A Message from our founder and president...

Welcome....

This site was created because of my love, passion and dedication to those who are our
*WOUNDED ABLE WARRIORS...All of my brothers and sisters who are Suffering in Silence.
* Our Wounded Able Warriors are not only our Active Duty Service Member, they are also our;
                                                    ~Veterans
                                                 ~Firefighters
                                               ~Police Officers
                                 ~EMT/other Health Care Providers
                                    ~Family Members/Loved Ones
                                  ~Everyone who "suffers in silence"

I once read that-

~A person with mental illness CAN recover even though the illness is NOT “cured”.

~ That RECOVERY is a way of living a satisfying, hopeful and contributing life, even with the limitations caused by illness.

~Recovery involves the purpose in one's life as one grows beyond the catastrophic effects of mental illness.

Many of us have gone far too long suffering in silence alone….and we are here to let you know you no longer have to go through this torment, suffering and silent pain alone.

SO, in spite of what many may think about these “wounded able warriors” and their disabilities or as some may call it “mental illness”, these "mentally, physically, spiritually wounded warriors" are still human souls who are able and deserve to live a functional, balanced life. They should not be ignored, labeled, dis-respected or left alone to fend for themselves to suffer the great side effects of life.

I also know that many of you feel as if you’re just fine, that there’s nothing wrong with you...it was all part of life, the job...life goes on, and you can deal with it...in some ways I agree with you wholeheartedly. You’re good people, strong and able, you did what needed to be done, but the truth is, when you have gone through some kind of trauma or stressor that affects the human soul; body, mind and spirit, it DOES in some way or another lead to many other mental, physical and spiritual traumas, stressors and illness which cause us much agony, pain and silent suffering.

This is not to say that there’s something wrong with you or that you’re mentally ill. It just means that there are Mental, Physical and Spiritual injuries. A DIS-EASE of the mind, body and spirit. It may not happen right at first, it may take years to develop, and for some it may not happen at all...

If I  can be of service to but ONE of my brothers or sisters who are suffering in silence, then that's a start.

We here at WAFAW Relief Project are here as unified souls, with a two-fold mission and one purpose....to SERVE YOU, through education, awareness and service missions.

Education & Awareness
Emotional/Spiritual and Mental Health Injuries such as; PTSD, Depression, Anxiety, Explosive & Anger Disorders, Physical Pain, illnesses and injuries due to and along with many other Combat Stress Disorders and Trauma are the same as any other injury. Some of our Active Service Members and Veterans are being labeled as having mental health issues, yet many may not receive the proper treatment, education, support or follow-up care needed just to survive. Sometimes they are over medicated, or sometimes mis-diagnosed and treated with NONE of the urgency given to the physically wounded.

You put your life on the line, because you love your country and choose to serve and protect us, and still can get the help you need. Many are suffering for over 30 years with bad memories, nightmares, etc.

Many people do not realize this and lable those who are suffering as "crazy", some may even say, "why don't they just get over it, it's been so long and it's the past" "they choose to be this way"...I believe this is why so many of our Warriors are homeless, don't want care, struggling to make ends meet, or are lost in the system.

Many war warriors come home to family, friends, community and a country much less than thankful for what they have done. We all need the support and praise for a job well done. EVEN if we do not agree with the war (past, present or future) we must honor and thank those who serve us.
Many have told me they are not heroes; they did what needed to be done because of their love for their country. They don't want parades or fanfare they only want to be appreciated for what they did and they don't want their history to die. Once they are gone their history is gone with them.
I know this that some are still waiting over 30 years just to tell a story and to hear a "heartfelt THANK YOU"

WE at WAFAW RELIEF PROJECT "THANK YOU AND WE WILL NEVER FORGET"

There are others who do suffer from some form of mental dis-ease that are treated at a short term hospital but then have NO place to go once discharged. For example some of the elderly folks who suffer in silence, are treated and doing well on medication, etc..they are not able to go home, no one can care for them and the nursing homes are not able to take them in because they do not qualify for nursing care...so where do they go?

I often wonder why there are programs that look out for some and not all. Take the Police and Firefighters, if one of their own suffers from a traumatic event or has a mental health issue, they take care of them, pull them off their duty and have follow-up care for them...so why don't we have the same care for our active service members, veterans, elderly, everyone who is suffering in silence?
